This is QT’s first recognition as Philippine Law Firm of the Year in ALB Philippine Law Awards since its launch in 2016.
This recognition is especially meaningful as we celebrate our firm's 60th anniversary this year, marking six decades of exceptional client service, legal expertise, and impactful client solutions. Management Committee partner Gil Roberto Zerrudo received the trophy for QT during the awards ceremony.
Woman Lawyer of the Year: Our Intellectual Property, Data and Technology practice group head, Divina Ilas-Panganiban, was honored with the prestigious Woman Lawyer of the Year award at the ALB Philippine Law Awards 2023.
This recognition celebrates her exceptional legal expertise, leadership, and significant impact on the legal profession. Vina was also cited as a Global Leader by World Trademark Review: Private Practice 2023 and has been cited as leading lawyer for Intellectual Property and TMT by The Legal 500 Asia Pacific, Chambers Asia Pacific, Managing IP, World Trademark Review, Asialaw, AsiaIP, and IAM Patent 1000, among others.
Technology, Media and Telecommunications Law Firm of the Year: QT’s exceptional work and expertise in the TMT sector has been acknowledged with the TMT Firm of the Year award. This award recognizes our unwavering commitment and exceptional expertise in the ever-evolving TMT law sector. It also serves a nod to our ability to provide innovative and proactice legal solutions to major players in the TMT industry. Present during the awarding are QT's TMT Industry Group co-heads, Gil Roberto Zerrudo and Divina Ilas-Panganiban.
M&A Deal of the Year: Our Corporate & Commercial/M&A team has been recognized with the M&A Deal of the Year award by Legal Business Philippine Law Awards 2023. This award was in connection with Project Leyte, which is the first Philippine project of the joint venture between Shell Overseas Investments B.V. (Shell) and Emerging Power Inc. (EPI), the renewable energy subsidiary of Nickel Asia Corp. Sarmiento Loriega Law Office was the legal counsel of the joint venture partners in the Project.
Maria Christina Macasaet-Acaban, partner and head of the firm’s Corporate & Commercial/M&A Practice Group and the Competition Focus Group, with partner Alain Charles Veloso, and senior associate, Lara Camille Lee worked on the merger clearance aspects of the Project.
Dennis Quintero, partner and head of the firm’s Energy, Mining & Infrastructure Industry Group also assisted Shell in its joint venture with EPI., supported by senior associate, Gaston Perez de Tagle.
