Biography

Jared is a partner in Quisumbing Torres' Dispute Resolution Practice Group. He heads the Firm's Compliance and Ethics initiatives, and Transportation and Logistics Industry Group. Jared has extensive experience in commercial litigation, with a particular focus on investigations and commercial arbitration. He has been cited by the Legal 500 Asia Pacific as Next Generation Partner in Dispute Resolution in the Philippines in 2024, 2025, and 2026, and Asian Legal Business Philippines named him Young Lawyer of the Year in 2025.

Jared is the chairman and past president of the Philippine Institute of Arbitrators (PIARB). He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIARB) and PIARB, and an accredited arbitrator of the Philippine Dispute Resolution Center Inc. (PDRCI), the Philippines' Office for Alternative Dispute Resolution (OADR), and the Philippines' Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM). He was a Philippine representative to the Young Singapore International Arbitration Centre (YSIAC) Council from 2023-2025, a member of the panel of arbitrators of the Borneo International Centre for Arbitration and Mediation (BICAM), and a member of the International Arbitration Panel of Resolution Institute (RI). Jared sat as an arbitrator in the first WESM arbitrations in the Philippines, and continues to act as arbitrator in ongoing commercial arbitrations.

He conducts MCLE lectures on commercial arbitration, and has co-authored a book on the matter. He teaches Civil Procedure and Criminal Procedure at the Far Eastern University Institute of Law. Jared also serves as deputy director of IBP Rizal-RSM Chapter’s Unified Legal Aid Service Committee, and as investigating commissioner of the IBP’s Commission on Bar Discipline. He is also a supervising lawyer at the Ateneo Legal Services Center, where he oversees students in handling pro bono cases.

Jared studied at the Ateneo Law School (2010) where he received the Dean's Silver Medal for his J.D. thesis on foreign arbitral awards. He served as president of the Ateneo Society of International Law and was part of teams that represented the Philippines and won in moot court competitions in Florida (1st runner-up; 2007 Stetson International Environmental Law Moot Court Competition) and Japan (1st; 2008 Asia Cup International Law Moot Court Competition).

Representative Legal Matters

Commercial Arbitration and Civil Litigation

  • Led a team of lawyers in the successful defense of a multinational company in an injunction suit by another multinational company, arising out of a global multijurisdictional and multi-billion-dollar patent dispute, seeking to enjoin its operations in the Philippines.
  • Led a team of lawyers that obtained a successful outcome for a healthcare company in a dispute concerning the cancellation of its supply agreement and collectibles of around USD 2 million.
  • Led the successful defense for one of the world’s biggest dredging companies, in an injunction suit to enjoin the company’s dredging operations for a reclamation project, valued at around USD 1.1 billion.
  • Led a team of lawyers that successfully obtained the dismissal of a Construction Industry Arbitration Commission (CIAC) arbitration initiated by a subcontractor against a joint venture client, valued at around PHP 20 million.
  • Represented a multinational freight forwarding and logistics company in several proceedings relating to the enforcement of a multi-million-dollar arbitral award in an international commercial arbitration, one of which resulted in a favorable landmark Supreme Court decision on the scope of arbitration confidentiality under Philippine law.
  • Obtained a court-issued interim measure of protection for a foreign oil trading company, that eventually led to a multi-million-dollar arbitral award in an international commercial arbitration.  
  • Obtained an arbitral award for the Philippine arm of a multinational advertising company in a domestic arbitration against a government agency, for services rendered sought to be paid on the basis of quantum meruit. 
  • Acted as arbitrator in the first two arbitrations under the Philippines’ Wholesale Electricity Sport Market rules.

Criminal Defense and Prosecution

  • Led a team of lawyers in the successful prosecution of several individuals engaged in cybercrime and fraud activities in the Philippines in criminal cases instituted by a multinational financial services company.
  • Led a team of lawyers in obtaining the release, and successfully defending officers of a multinational client in a dawn raid conducted by law enforcement agencies on allegations of illegal dredging operations.
  • Led a team of lawyers in securing the release from detention of a driver of a popular ride-hailing platform in a highly publicized incident involving a traffic altercation with a law enforcement officer.
  • Successfully defended and prevented the arrest of chief executives of a multinational financial technology company in a criminal proceeding initiated by the Bureau of Internal Revenue.
  • Successfully represented a foreign business process outsourcing company in the entrapment and arrest of an individual engaged in cybercrime and extortion activities against the company.  
  • Successfully defended and obtained the release of indigent clients in a pro bono case involving allegations of assault and physical injuries. 
  • Successfully defended and obtained the release of 36 employees of a multinational financial services company, in a dawn raid conducted by the National Bureau of Investigation. 
  • Successfully defended chief executives of a multinational advertising company in a tax-related criminal proceeding initiated by the Bureau of Internal Revenue. 
  • Successfully represented excluded heirs in a multi-million-dollar estate settlement proceeding and the contempt and criminal proceedings resulting therefrom. 
  • Successfully defended a foreign national from criminal indictment for supposed violation of the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children, due to alleged failure to provide support. 
  • Successfully prosecuted on behalf of a multinational business process outsourcing company, an individual responsible for fraud and bomb threats against the company.
