Manila, Philippines, 23 February 2024 - Quisumbing Torres is pleased to announce that Dispute Resolution Partner Jared Amoroso has been elected as President of the Philippine Institute of Arbitrators (PIArb), effective January 2023 – December 2025.

PIArb was established in 2007, and is the first learned society in the Philippines dedicated to both promoting private dispute resolution within the country and pursuing initiatives to enable the country to serve as a viable and practical venue for private dispute resolution.

In his speech at PIArb’s Monthly Fellowship in January, Jared laid out the Institute’s plans for the upcoming 2-year term, highlighting initiatives meant to increase member engagement, broaden the reach of training programs, and ensure PIArb’s proactive leadership in bringing ADR developments in the Philippines. Jared says that he is “privileged to have been entrusted with this enormous responsibility, one that [he is] taking on with confidence, owing to the support of his fellow trustees and officers, who are all experienced neutrals, practitioners, and advocates in their respective rights -- all passionate to advance private dispute resolution as the primary means of resolving conflict in the Philippines.”

Quisumbing Torres has been a proud supporter of PIArb since its inception. Jared is joined by other Quisumbing Torres lawyers with officer roles in PIArb. Senior Partner Donemark Calimon serves as President Emeritus and takes on an advisory roles as member of PIArb’s Senate; DR Partner Camille Bianca Gatmaitan-Santos serves as Institute Treasurer; DR Associate Danielle Joanna Gaite serves as Institute Secretary, and was recently appointed as Assistant Vice President for Public Engagement in PIArb’s Advocacy Community; and DR Associate Renson Louise Yu serves as Assistant Institute Treasurer.

Jared also heads the firm's Transportation and Logistics Industry Group Subsector. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the Philippine Institute of Arbitrators, and an accredited arbitrator of the Philippine Dispute Resolution Center Inc., the Philippines' Office for Alternative Dispute Resolution, and the Philippines' Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM). He is a Philippine representative to the Young Singapore International Arbitration Centre (YSIAC) Council, and a member of the panel of arbitrators of the Borneo International Centre for Arbitration and Mediation. Jared sat as an arbitrator in the first WESM arbitrations in the Philippines, and acts as arbitrator and counsel in ad hoc and institutional arbitrations.
