Quisumbing Torres is pleased to announce that Partner Bienvenido Marquez III has been appointed as member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) Asia Global Advisory Council (GAC) for 2022 to 2023, making him the only Philippine representative on the council.

Bien heads the firm's Intellectual Property, Data & Technology Practice and co-heads its Consumer Goods & Retail Industry Group. He participates in initiatives of Baker & McKenzie International of which Quisumbing Torres is a member firm. He is a member of Baker McKenzie's Asia Pacific Intellectual Property Steering Committee and the Asia Pacific Intellectual Property Business Unit for Brand Enforcement.

INTA is a nonprofit global association of brand owners and professionals dedicated to promoting trademarks and related intellectual property in order to foster consumer trust, economic growth and innovation, as well as to use brands to improve society.  In 2018, Bien was awarded INTA’s prestigious Volunteer Service Award, the very first recipient of such award from the Philippines.

As a member of the GAC, Bien will provide inputs to the INTA president and CEO on the identifying regional policy trends or challenges that INTA should address through advocacy; how to increase regional corporate membership by identifying significant prospective INTA members; and how to more effectively communicate pertinent issues or achievements in each country.

Commenting on the appointment, Bien said: "I am honored to have been chosen to be a member of the Council. I am excited to contribute my legal and commercial knowledge to the promotion and protection of intellectual property in the region, especially during these challenging times."

Five members of the firm's Intellectual Property, Data and Technology Practice Group have also been appointed to several INTA committees for 2022 to 2023.
